As a small family childcare home, we have a small enrollment capacity with mixed ages. Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers share this home as their own, creating a warm family setting. Children learn from each other and help one another at different stages β a beautiful opportunity to foster community values.
All ages share mealtimes together as well as outdoor time. For individual learning, children are separated into two different groups. Toddlers, from 18 months to 3 years old, and Primary level, from 3 years old to 5 years old, each have a designated learning space. Each space is designed to meet the developmental needs of the corresponding age group.
Mornings are when children have higher energy levels, are driven by curiosity, and are predisposed to learn. Our program is structured with that in mind.
All children get ready for the day as they come in. This means shoes and belongings are put away, potty time, and hand washing.
Primary age children (3 to 5 year-olds) review the calendar daily as a group. We go over the months of the year, days of the week, the weather, and we count our days in the current month.
Our family-style breakfast routine is a great way to socialize as a group while children charge up their energy with a nutritious breakfast. Children can eat at their own pace and transition back to classwork when they are ready.
Children begin their learning with work of their choice. The materials available are all considered work. While infants will explore through movement and sensory stimulation, older children will naturally use materials that challenge their skills appropriately. Older children will receive individual lessons on demand when they choose materials that require them.
After materials are put away, children gather to sing, dance, and read.
During outdoor time, children can enjoy the scenery of nature, play, and move. This is the time for free-play and exploration outdoors.
At this time, we transition back indoors to wash our hands and get ready for lunch. Lunch is enjoyed together, and children can eat as much or as little as they want before resting time.
A scheduled naptime allows all children to have a consistent block of time to recharge and relax. We adapt the environment to become a quiet and cozy space β sleeping cots are set up, and curtains are closed. Older children who do not nap are taken outside for outdoor time. This way we ensure an uninterrupted block of time for napping children.
Cots are put away. Our classroom space is restored, and afternoon snack becomes available.
Our program ends at 4 o'clock. Departures may be at the front door or backyard gate depending on the current day. We have a 15-minute grace window for pick-up.
We'd love to give your family a tour. Give us a call or send a text.
